Research Analyst for our Tankers Research team

Are you interested in the world of shipping and international trade? Would you like to work with the latest maritime trends and help our clients make better decisions? Does being part of a team and together raise the bar while having fun, sound like you?

We are looking for a Research Analyst – a curious and collaborative professional with an analytical mind. If you have an interest in both the commercial and operational side of shipping together with strong communication skills, come join our team as we continue our quest to deliver market-leading insights to our clients around the world.

During recent years, we have strengthened our Research team to deliver on our ambition of being our clients’ trusted advisor. Now we are looking for a new colleague to join our team.

We offer:

With MB Shipbrokers, you become part of a global shipbroking company with over a century of experience, a worldwide presence, and an unrivalled dedication to customers. In addition, you will become part of our broader research and advisory team consisting of experienced shipping professionals specialised in finance, statistics, data modelling, energy transition and trade.

Despite the busy nature of shipping and being an international 24/7 business, we know that our employees have a life outside of work and promote a healthy work-life balance.

Our office in Copenhagen is close to Østerbro station, the city, and the sea. We have our own canteen serving freshly made food every day, Wednesday workouts, changing facilities and occasional social events.

Key responsibilities:

As a Tanker Analyst, you will join the team responsible for our research into the tanker markets. The team focuses not only on conventional trades but also on the development of zero-emission fuel trades. In this role, you will assume ownership and play a role in the continued development of a strategic focus area as you provide our clients and global organization with up-to-date fleet and market intelligence, including, for example, market demand, trade patterns, deployment trends, charter rates and asset values.

Simply put, through the best analysis, models, and reports in the business, you help provide new and valuable market insights to our clients and support their understanding of a complex market, along with hopefully effecting a push for climate friendly changes.

To accomplish this, you will take on a role in developing and refining our sector knowledge and outlook. More specifically, you will be involved in:

· Maintaining and developing our supply and demand forecast models together with our data and analytics team
· Mapping major demand drivers within the assigned segments
· Preparing regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly market reports and forecasts
· Writing and further developing our market reports portfolio
· Developing client and topic specific studies and presentations
· Sharing market insights with our organisation and clients

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a committed and independent colleague who is highly organised, structured and preferably with sector specific experience. You have an improvement mindset and look forward to, together with our team, developing the depth of our research products – both what we do, and how we deliver it. You are a strong communicator and are comfortable interacting with multiple stakeholders. Moreover, we imagine that you:

· Have 1- 3 years’ working experience, preferably from the shipping- or energy industry (but not a pre-requisite)
· Are familiar with forecast modelling, data collection and analysis
· Either hold a degree in macroeconomics, international trade, finance and/or are an experienced shipping professional
· Are a good communicator both orally and in writing
· Have a high proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with VBA, SQL and PowerBi is a plus, but not a must.
· Are fluent in spoken and written English

All in all, you will thrive in this role because you have a natural ability to combine numbers and detailed market knowledge into crisp market analysis that you communicate clearly and effortlessly to both internal and external audiences.
